Hatsune Miku is a Japanese Vocaloid from the engine Vocaloid2, a singing synthesizer created by Yamaha Corperation. She was created by Crypton Future Media and her voice provider is Saki Fujita. She was the one who made Vocaloid (and Crypton) more well known. She has a number of merchandise including a game series, various manga, and appeared in animes. She was also the first Vocaloid to have an Append, a data library consisting of six new voicebanks. She also has an upcoming English voicebank that is due for release Spring 2012. She is one of the most popular Vocaloids and the first one to become a pop idol.
